Faculty - Putting Materials on Reserve

PLACING MATERIALS ON RESERVE AT HOFHEIMER LIBRARY:

If the item you would like to have placed on reserve is a library owned item, please fill out the library's Reserves Form.

If it is a personal item, the request must be reviewed before it can be placed on reserve. Please contact Hofheimer Library about personal copy reserves by phone: 455-3224 or by email: library@vwu.edu. Approved personal copies will be returned by intercampus mail at the end of the semester.

All reserves:

  • Need to be submitted at least 3 working days before assigning materials to students.
  • Will remain on reserve for only one semester.
  • Library assumes no responsibility for copyright or lost/damaged materials.

Copyright information

The reserve policy is based on the assumption that the Library’s reserve shelf functions as an extension of classroom readings and/or reflects a student’s rights under the  Fair Use Doctrine (as prescribed for not-for-profit educational institutions in Section 107 of the Copyright Revision Act of 1976) and is intended to protect Virginia Wesleyan University and it’s faculty.

Hofheimer Library will place personal copies on reserve in accordance with the following general guidelines:

  • The material submitted on this form falls with the “Fair Use” guidelines or is not copyrighted.
  • You have obtained prior permission from the respective copyright holder(s).
  • You are the copyright holder.
