Current VWU students, faculty, and staff are eligible to borrow materials. A valid VWU ID card is required.

Holds and Assistance Locating Books

Placing a hold on a book:

If a book you want is already checked out, ask at the checkout desk. A hold can be placed on the book and you will be notified when it is returned.

Library staff can also help you find out if the book is available at another library (if you can pick it up yourself).

If you would like to request a book through Interlibrary Loan, contact Interlibrary Loan Coordinator Stephen Leist x2131.

Locating materials in the library:

Books in the circulating collection on the 2nd floor and reference collection on the first floor are organized according the Library of Congress (LC) classification system which is subject based. 

Popular and Best Seller books are shelved by author's last name.

Movies are shelved by title.

Please ask library staff for assistance in finding the books or other materials that you need.

Special Assistance

The library does not offer book retrieval services. However, library staff are available to assist those with special needs in finding and pulling materials. Contact a librarian or ask at the checkout desk for assistance.

Missing Items

We hope the catalog is correct and that available items are shelved correctly. However, if you cannot find a book or movie that should be available, please notify the circulation desk or a librarian. A search request form will be filled in. Library staff will look for the book and notify you when the item is found. You may place an interlibrary loan request for the item when you request the search.
