Newspapers: Older Information

The following are suggestions for locating older sources of information.

1. The Internet and online sources of information have only been available since the 1980s. Prior to that, most sources of information were found in print books.
2. Bibliographies on a particular subject provide lists of articles, books and other sources of information. For example, the following bibliography would provide many sources of information on the holocaust: By words alone: the Holocaust in literature by Sidra DeKoven Ezrahi [PN56.H55 E9 1980].

Many older newspapers are being digitized and made available freely on the web.

• Google News Archive is a digitized historical collection of mainly U.S., but some international newspapers.
• Chronicling America from the Library of Congress contains digitized newspapersfrom 1880-1992 from numerous states. 
• From Bowling Green State University Library, a list of websites with historical newspapers from the United States and newspapers by state.
