Online Students' Guide to Library Services: Logging In to Library Accounts Off Campus

Instructions to Log In to Databases and VWU Library Account

There are two ways to access library resources.

There is one login for accessing online databases, and there is one login for accessing your library account to see what materials you have checked out and what you have requested through interlibrary loan.

Instructions for accessing library databases off campus

When accessing library databases off campus (if looking for articles, data, ebooks, etc.), log in using your Student ID and password.

If your first semester at VWU was Fall 2019 or later, the Student ID is your 7-digit student ID number. If you entered the school before Fall 2019, this is the first part of your email (everything before the @) and your password.

You will know to use these login credentials when you see this screen:

If you do not know your password, and the “Forgot your password?” link is not successful, please contact the IT Help Desk at 757-524-5900. Press 2 to speak to someone.

Instructions for accessing your library account

When accessing your library account online (interlibrary loan requests, checked out materials, etc.), log in using the barcode number on your physical Student ID and your password. If you do not have a physical Student ID, contact the security office at 757-455-3349.

To log in to this account, go to vwu.edu/library and click “Advanced Settings” below the main search bar.

Click the login button in the upper right of the screen.

To create your account, you must first click the “Set/Reset Password” link and follow the instructions in your student email.
