The Archive was renamed on April 4, 2013, as the Stephen S. Mansfield Archives, in honor of Dr. Stephen Mansfield, who for over 40 years has served as a professor of history, Vice-president for Academic Affairs and Kenneth R. Perry Dean of the College, and University Archivist. In retirement, Dr. Mansfield continues to maintain the archive and its collections.
Dr. Mansfield is known locally for his history Princess Anne County and Virginia Beach: A Pictorial History (1989) and his history of Virginia Wesleyan College, Wisdom Lights the Way: Virginia Wesleyan College's First Half-Century (2010).
Access to the archive may be arranged by advance appointment with Dr. Mansfield at smansfield@vwu.edu. In the event Dr. Mansfield is not available, please contact library@vwu.edu to schedule. The archive is located in the Hofheimer Library on the second floor.
