Microform Help: Editing and Saving Images

Instructions for using microfilm/fiche reader/printer.

Editing Images

  1. Click on image to be edited and click the Edit Scans icon.
  2. Additional Editing options appear on the bottom of the screen. (Some of these editing adjustments take a few seconds to appear – be patient.)
  3. Start with Zoom option on bottom left to view the image. Three options: click on the smaller image to zoom out, click on the larger image to zoom in or slide the zoom arrow left or right. Most used option.

NOTE: Undo editing changes and/or Save changes are available. Suggestion: save changes frequently so when you click undo, you do not have to go back to make desired changes.

Cropping Controls: It is not obvious that this is working when you first start using this feature.

  1. Place mouse at edge where you want to begin cropping. Click and drag mouse to crop. Image appears light colored in area that you are cropping out and darker for the desired image area.
  2. If you do not like the desired selection that was cropped, just click outside of the cropped area. The full image should appear. Repeat cropping with mouse until you have the correct image.
  3. Click on Crop Selection option on lower left side of page.
  4. When finished, select Save Changes to save your image. The thumbnail image should reflect the changes you make.

Saving Images

NOTE: Edit all images prior to saving any to flash drive. All images are automatically saved when you save one.

  1. Plug thumb drive into computer under desk, on front of hard drive.
  2. Select the image you want to save by clicking on the scanned image.
  3. Click on the Send to USB icon along the top row.
  4. Select the file type you desire and click Send to USB button. (Default PDF works well for most text documents.)
  5. A new file will be setup on your flash drive and ALL images will be saved using the filename previously setup.
